Aug 3/4 - Venetian adventures

Highlights:
Champagne with a lovely Italian on a boat tour
Tarts by the sea
Coffee under Rialto

My second day in Venice was a bit slow thanks to a lovely visit by Mother Nature. I still enjoyed myself though, mostly taking in the sites. I thought I had booked a boat tour in the evening, but I had mixed my days up. So, I enjoyed a beer instead and was supposed to meet with some people from the hostel but things went awry when I got off the train at the wrong stop... in the end I did make it back to the hostel safely and enjoyed a beer pizza hot shower and well needed sleep. Some highlights from day 2:
Funny start to my day, as I walked I found a handful of ‘1987’s’ wherever I looked - this one being
the most beautiful - Bella.
Dear future husband, let’s eat here one day.
My relaxing day was not solo, as I was joined for lunch under the Rialto Bridge - twice. Once by this honoured guest, and secondly by a poor woman who must have been in a lot of pain as she changed
her shoes for a more walkable pair.
I arrived at my destination for the boat tour a little early...
My beer after the lost tour - these are fried cheese which I chose to try for my mother. I think I could do better bough mom - more to come from this venture.

The day ended with a lot of sweating (sorry - I’ve been a sweaty mess since I got here really - not complaining... but yes I’m uncomfortable) but finally back in the AC of my room. Speaking of, I haven’t shared any pictures of Anda Venice - great hostel:

Day 3
Spent the afternoon on the island of Giudecca. Was able to see a few artworks a part of the Venice Biennale.
The most lovely custard tart - just the right size. Here the water was splashing up onto our feet from the waves.
If you follow art, you will know Banksy was recently removed from the Biennale for his rendition of a cruise ship taking over the canal, I thought this was his interpretation only, but sadly it’s reality, there are petitions to end this all over Venice. I have to admit, I’m in agreeable. Speaking with locals, they are happy to have tourists but the cruise ships simply drop people to buy junk and then leave. It’s unnecessary.

Around every corner  something more beautiful than the last
This time I successfully arrived for the boat tour which included a little champagne and tapas - and an extraordinarily handsome guide ;) I wasn’t too unhappy when I was asked to sit beside him the others  were couples anyway.
View from the boat tour. Details of this artwork to come.

I’m late in posting - but that may be the trend - most likely a good thing - today I meet with the sailing tour! But first, to the Doge’s Palace 😍
